Upcoming Specialty Group Meetings
Note: Some groups continue to meet during summer months. See below for more information.
Dyers: Next meeting is in June 13th at Color Creek. Stay tuned for more info.
Rug Hookers: Rug Hooking, punching, etc. group will meet Wednesday, May 27th at 9:30 AM at Coffee Shop in the Redlands. Call Judy Br if you need directions.
Weavers: Taking the summer off. Meetings resume in Sept.
Knitters: Wednesday, June 10th at 9:30 AM at the home of Mary Jo N. We plan to meet through the summer. All members are welcome.
Spinners: Wednesday, June 17th, 9:30 – 11:30 AM at the First Congregational Church on 5th and Kennedy across the street from GJ High School. All members are welcome. Call Lynn H. 462-6641 if you have questions. We will meet through the summer for those who are around.
Rug Hookers: Wednesday, June 24th, at 9:30 AM at Monument Coffee Shop in the Redlands next to Garfields. Call Judy Br. if you need directions. New members are always welcome.
Come join us for coffee, goodies, and hookin’! The group will continue to meet during the summer months, for those who are around.

Guild Mission Statement
Article II: Purpose Mesa Fiber Arts Guild is a non-profit organization
dedicated to the preservation of fiber arts: weaving, spinning,knitting, surface design, fiber dyeing and related fiber arts. The Guild seeks to advance fiber arts through shows,workshops, study groups, community involvement and a monthly newsletter. As members of the Mesa Fiber Arts Guild we have a responsibility to represent our Guild in the best possible light. Since we are a fiber arts group, it is suggested the whenever possible our members use high quality fibers in their projects when demonstrating to the public and participating in Guild sponsored events.

MFAG Meeting Minutes
2015 Mesa Fiber Arts Guild
May 6, 2015

The meeting was called to order by Paula O, who chaired the meeting.
No guests were present this month.
Approval of minutes: Shirley B motioned, seconded by Dean M to approve the minutes as printed in the May newsletter. Motion carried.
Approval of treasurer’s report: Connie S motioned, seconded by Ricki H to approve the treasurer’s report as printed in the May newsletter. Motion carried.
Sunshine Fund – Connie S donated a lovely knitted hat for the monthly drawing.
Upcoming events: Cross Orchards – Heritage Farm Days on June
6th - Dean M is in charge of this event and is planning on a Sheep-to-Scarf event. Dean M and Nancy B will be combing fleece which will be spun by volunteer spinners and woven by Mary W. Shirley B will be knitting a scarf on her knitting machine. Dean passed around a signup sheet of additional volunteers to comb, spin, knit, crochet, or weave. It should be tons of fun!
Intermountain Weavers Conference – July 23- 26 - Conference organizers are requested volunteers and a donation basket for this year’s raffle. Penny L and Jared L offered to provide a basket from Sheep Camp Wool Mill and Jared. Thanks for the generous donation.
Take Part in Art – June 20 – Lincoln Park Barn
– A couple volunteers are needed to demonstrate fiber arts representing the Guild. Please let Judy B know if you are available.
Event Reports: Yarn Fest in Loveland CO – Nancy B attended the event and reported on event classes and the Yarn Market.
Family History Day – Dean M organized volunteers for this event and reported on how successful our Guild presents was this year. Fiber combing, spinning, knitting, weaving, and the cool knitting machine were demonstrated for attendees. Thanks for organizing Dean!
2015-2016 officers – Please vote via email or
phone to Mary W by May 11th for this year’s officers. The slate of officers is posted in the May Newsletter. Also, the Guild still needs a newsletter helper to assist Margaret E.
United Way Fiber Art Show art pieces will be removed sometime the first week of June. Judy B will send out an email advising everyone who has pieces when and where to pick them up.
Other News:
The weavers group has decided to focus on Asian inspired weaving for next year. They are thinking about having a Shibori weaving workshop. Once the pieces are complete, they can be dyed at Color Creek Fiber Arts.
Connie S motioned, seconded by Judy B to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
After the meeting the group enjoyed a wonderful potluck.
The 2014-15 Challenge winners were: Functional – Delores S and Artistic – Deb R. Congratulation ladies your prize will be mailed to you.
The Show and Tell drawing winner was Jared L. Congratulation Jared your prize will be mailed to you.
LaVonne H was the lucky winner of the Sunshine Fund raffle, winning the beautiful hat knitted by Connie S.
