Dean's Birthday Celebration at Canyon de Chelly National Monument

Several Mesa Fiber Arts Guild members took a short road trip through the southwest desert to visit the Navajo Reservation and the Hubbell Trading Post. While there, we celebrated Dean's Birthday. Happy Birthday Dean, 88 years young. Thanks Ellen, Bill, and Casey the wonder dog.

Knitters Group March 11

Our March Knitter's Meeting, held on the 11th at Deborah R. home, was attended by 13 members.  Very enjoyable time by all, many show and tell items, plus some tips for easier methods for finishing of projects. Ricki will be doing a demo for the next Weavers meeting, she invited all members of the Knitting Group to attend.

Keep up the good work not only for ourselves but for the charities that some of us participate in for local organizations.

Weavers group meeting April 4th, Echo Weave

Per Glenda M, the next meeting for the weavers group is Saturday, April 4th at the home of Shari R, 3339 C Road, Palis. The program will be given by Sally B on echo weave. All weavers are invited.

March Evening Guild Meeting

As always, we had a lot of fun at our Thursday evening meeting, this time fumbling with yarn, knitting needles, double ended needles, and more. Mary W. was such a great presenter and teacher for the Scandinavian knitting technique Tvaandsstickning. She brought lots of samples to show us. The technique allows the wearer of the item to protected from any wind coming through the knitted piece. Great for cold windy winters like we have here in Colorado. The knitting uses a "Z" twist yarn and several double ended knitting needles.

There were 11 members in attendance at the meeting.

Next month is our exciting and much anticipated "Yarn Swap and Sale". Bring your thrums, unused yarns, ones you have spun, dyed, or make yourself. Also, bring any tools, books, supplies, or equipment you want to sell or share. We will meet back at the Center for Independence, 740 Gunnison, Grand Junction. Enter the gym through the East side door of the parking lot. Starts at 6PM and runs till 8PM. Please call Margaret if you have any questions. 773-1916

Rumor has it that there might be a rug show organized for the event.
